Quarter Sawn Sycamore, Buckeye Burl, and Bolivian Rosewood Knife Scales - s-325
$34.00
Top: Quarter sawn sycamore (dyed)
Middle: Buckeye burl with 6 layers of vulcanized fiber
Bottom: Bolivian rosewood
.32” x 5-9/16” x 1-1-2”
Bolivian rosewood is intentionally not stabilized because the natural oils in the wood turn to a wax when stabilized and prevent the wood from bonding with epoxy. Bolivian rosewood is naturally super dense and doesn't benefit from stabilization.
Made in Greenville, SC.
Scales are wet with denatured alcohol to show grain for photo.
Due to the grain texture of wenge and some burl woods, there may be very tiny voids visible on the surface of scales. I attempt to fill all voids that may naturally occur in the wood but the tiny ones may slip through. These tiny surface voids will mostly be removed when you shape your handles.
